Now studying his PhD in a joint-program with the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and the Universitat de Barcelona, International ESU alumnus Patrick Saliba shares his life-changing experience.

Patrick Saliba

My name is Patrick Saliba and I am from Lebanon. In 2011, I had the opportunity to represent my university in the National English Public Speaking Competition organized by the ESU in my country.

Luckily enough, I was granted the opportunity to be a special guest at the International Public Speaking Competition held in London and organized by The English Speaking Union.

My Magna Carta

My Magna Carta is an international creative essay competition for 11 to 18 year olds in celebration of the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta. Young people from across the UK, the English-Speaking Union's member countries and throughout the Commonwealth are invited to create their very own Magna Carta for the 21st century: one document that safeguards and promotes the rights, privileges and liberties of either their own country or the whole world.

Congratulations to all the young people within the ESU international community who have been selected as finalists for this year's competition. Best wishes to all in the final round of competition!

IPSC 2015The IPSC 2016 Finals in London will take place between Monday 9 and Friday 13 May 2016.

This year’s Heats Theme is “The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any”. The theme for the International Final will be “Integrity has no need of rules”.

All country representatives will be required to prepare a 5-minute speech relating to this theme. Speakers may interpret the theme in any way they wish, but may not use the theme as the title of their speech.

Please note that the Heats are held in London and are the qualifying rounds for the Semi Final on Friday. The Semi Final will be impromptu speeches.
